Quartzite is a metamorphic rock composed of mainly quartz that has recrystallized, typically from sandstone or chert, under extreme heat and pressure until all traces of its original structure are gone. Quartzite is extremely hard and elegant, making it an excellent choice for many different surfaces.
- Pros: Has a similar appearance to marble but scratch, stain, and heat resistant
- Cons: tends to be extremely expensive; can be brittle and difficult in fabrication
